This a side view/animation of a Rotary engine. I am a fan of the Wankel version of these engines found in the "RX" series of Mazda Cars. I have an RX-3 for a race car, and a RX-7 twin turbo for a street car to drive on my days off. I race in what is called the Pro Sedan class with my usual Racing Organization. Its called International Touring (A) racing by the SCCA. (Referred to as ITa ). I have 5 different cars (RX series) in various states of repair or Disrepair. Got to have lots of spare parts for a race car!!! Now on to the Pictures!!!!
This a rare update for a 3 year old site I don't have time to maintain anymore: This is in our M3 Feb. 2004, The only day I've gotten a car out on the track in two years!!!
I was complaining about the tires lack of grip all day, but they were trying!!!! Notice the outside tires are rolling off the bead on the lower third, and there is a wrinkle in the rear where I'm putting my foot into it!!!
I also got to put a Keith Code Superbike School race motorcycle through its paces at Sears Point in February: If you look closely, I'm looking right at the camera here. Probably not a good idea, but I was coming out of the turn, and at a point I could spare some concentration.
I got my knee down at the end of the first session, and felt comfortable by the second session to really let it run!!!
These are some older pics of me in my "Street" car. I take it out on the several racetracks nearby in California The first picture is at Sears Point Raceway in turn 5 at about 75-85 m.p.h. Its my favorite shot of "Christine." (Yes I named her that because I can't seem to control myself when I'm driving her.) Notice the inside wheels are not quite touching the pavement!!! I live for this stuff!!! The other shots are from a track down in Southern Ca. called Buttonwillow. I don't have any digital shots (yet) from another nearby track: Laguna Seca. Shots of my actual Race car will be coming shortly, as soon as I get a scanner.
The pictures below are at a 12 Hour race called an Enduro at a nearby track called Thunderhill. It is near Sacramento. This is my friend's car, I'm the one in the blue suit walking toward the car as we pit to get gas and change drivers. (Nobody can drive like this for 12 hours straight. We went for 1 to 1.5 hour legs.)
On the track during the 12 hour race. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
This is what happens when you don't' get it "just right"
Some poor Schmuck had just bought this car a month prior!!! I guess he lost his concentration for a just a short second...oops!!!!!!!!
